For the Spring semester of 2012, I decided to build speakers. This idea came about when my roommate told me that his set of headphones that snapped. For this project the materials were, a set of speakers, foam board, tape and glue, stencils, and two LED lights. Before I began to build the speakers, the contact point for one of the speakers had snapped, therefore rendering the speakers non-functional. The only way this could be saved was to solder the contact point. This was a learning experience because I had never soldered before. After the contact point was reconnected, I cut the foam board into specific measurements. Four boards at 7x7 inches, two boards at 5x6 inches, four boards at 5x7 inches, and finally two boards at 5x5 inches. Then three out of the four 7x7 boards were then cut to 1x1 inches by the edges. This opening was then attached to a stencil, this would allow the light shine. The LED lights were then housed into the boards. and the speakers were assembled. Openings were made in three 7x7 boards to allow wires to exit. The speakers were then assembled and held together by tape and glue. In order to make this more aesthetically more pleasing, the whole set should be taped over and painted. Please refer to images in the link below.
