A low budget projector made from an old overhead projector and an LCD monitor. Inspired by an instructables guide I decide to build my own LDC projector. 
To begin the monitor needed to be dissembled to remove the LCD display from the monitor housing and to remove the unneeded back light. With the LCD out it can now be placed on the projectors stage, with the projector now functioning as the back light. The light is projected up through a lens and off a mirror and onto the viewing surface, in this case a wall. It is best to not have the LDC screen directly on the stage glass because the heat can damage and destroy the LCD.
To fine tune the projector some additional modifications were necessary. To begin with, some of the image was being cropped due to diffusion plate which separates the light from a 'point' source to a 'parallel' source, and slightly focuses it toward the lens. To solve this the diffusion plate was removed from inside the projector and placed directly beneath the LCD screen, where before it was too far away and did not fully illuminate the LCD. The second problem was light pollution, the light source projected well and illuminated the LCD, but it also lit most of the room too. To prevent this a cardboard light screen was added to keep the light in, but not block the lens. I also used masking tape to cover extra area on the stage which just projected white light above and below the screen area. Finally I also added a computer case fan to the front to keep air circulating in the box to be sure there was no hotspots forming which could damage the screen.
The projector has the same resolution as the monitor, 1024X768 which is between 480p and 720p, and VGA connection to connect to a computer.
